Landscaping and agriculture FAQs

What brands fall under the Denali soil network?

We have united the industry’s best regional manufacturers. Our brands include WeCare (serving the Northeast), New Earth (serving Texas and the South), and Swanson Bark (serving the Pacific Northwest). All operate with Denali’s commitment to quality and sustainability.

What is the difference between compost and topsoil?

Compost is a nutrient-rich organic amendment used to improve soil health, water retention, and microbial activity. Topsoil is the mineral-based layer of earth. For best results, we often recommend our "engineered soils," which are blends of compost and topsoil designed for specific projects like lawns or raised beds.

How do I calculate how much material I need?

A general rule is that 1 cubic yard covers approximately 100 square feet at a depth of 3 inches. However, our local sales teams and online tools can help you calculate the exact tonnage or yardage required for your specific acreage or project site.

Do you sell to the public or just commercial accounts?

The products available for residential and commercial clients are different. Residential gardeners can purchase ReCirculate™ at a local dealer or Walmart.Commercial customers have greater access to all of our compost, mulch, and soil products.

Is your compost safe for food crops?

Yes. Our composts are manufactured using a controlled scientific process (Process to Further Reduce Pathogens) that meets or exceeds US EPA regulations. This ensures a safe, pathogen-free product suitable for agriculture, vegetable gardens, and soil manufacturing.

Can you create blends for bioretention or rooftop gardens?

Yes. We specialize in "engineered soils." We can blend compost with sand, lightweight aggregates, or native soil to meet strict architectural specifications for green roofs, rain gardens, and DOT roadside projects.
